21-year old PF/C Serge Ibaka is off to a good start in February. Ibaka has played in 4 games so far in February and he is averaging 29.8 minutes, 8.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 3.0 blocked shots per game on 60.9% shooting from the floor. Ibaka has now played in 51 games (18 starts) for the Thunder so far this year and he is averaging 25.9 minutes, 9.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 2.1 blocked shots per game. I think the further along the season goes, the more the Thunder are going to play Ibaka who is a force at both ends of the basketball court. I think he’s the third best player on the Thunder right now, behind only Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

Russell Westbrook is on fire for the Oklahoma City Thunder right now

22-year old point guard Russell Westbrook is proving to be much more than Kevin Durant’s sidekick so far this year. He has played in 13 games in January and he is averaging 37.6 minutes, 23.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Westbrook has 2 triple-doubles in January and he has 7 games of at least 20 points & 10 assists in January. He has now played in 47 games (all starts) for the Thunder so far this year and he is averaging 36.3 minutes, 22.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game. The scary thing for the rest of the Western Conference is that Westbrook just continues to get better.

23-year old point guard Eric Maynor has been solid for the Thunder so far this year. Maynor has played in 17 games (0 starts) for the Thunder so far this year and he is averaging 14.7 minutes, 5.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He is shooting well, hitting 48.7% of his shots from the floor and 45% from three point range. Maynor is a key to the Thunder’s second unit as he keeps the offense going when Russell Westbrook needs a breather.

22-year old point guard Russell Westbrook has been outstanding for the Thunder so far this year. Westbrook has started 3 games for the Thunder so far this year and he is averaging 34.3 minutes, 22.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game. Westbrook is giving the Thunder a lethal second weapon behind Kevin Durant so far this year. Westbrook is one of the up and coming point guards in the NBA as he makes the players around him better when he has the ball in his hands.

Russell Westbrook continues to improve for the Oklahoma City Thunder

Blogged under General, Steppin Up, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 9 June 2010 at 3:11 pm

21-year old point guard Russell Westbrook stepped up last season and he is without a doubt the second best player on the team behind Kevin Durant. Westbrook played in 82 games (all starts) for the Thunder last season and he averaged 34.3 minutes, 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He has now played in 164 games (146 starts) in his two years for the Thunder and he is averaging 33.4 minutes, 15.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Westbrook is already one of the better point guards in the league and he’s still only 21 years old which should be scary news for the Western Conference.
