The Thunder only shot 38.8% from the floor but it didn’t matter tonight in Detroit. That’s because Jeff Green hit a layup with 2 seconds left in the game to give the Thunder the win tonight. Kevin Durant had another rough night shooting as he hit 9 of 24 shots from the floor to finish with 30 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Jeff Green had a solid night for the Thunder tonight with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Russell Westbrook was only 4 of 13 shooting from the floor but he still finished up with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 2 steals. Serge Ibaka had a big game off the bench for the Thunder as he finished up with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in 28 minutes on the floor. The Thunder are now 2-0 on the year.

The Thunder outscored the Bulls 24-13 in the 4th quarter to pull out a nice home win despite being outrebounded 51-44 last night. Kevin Durant only shot 9 of 24 from the floor and he turned the ball over six times, but he still finished up with 30 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals last night to lead the way for the Thunder. Russell Westbrook was the real star of this game for the Thunder as he went toe to toe with Derrick Rose and he outplayed him. Westbrook finished up with 28 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot last night. Jeff Green pitched in with 21 points and 4 rebounds last night for the Thunder. The Thunder start the 2010-11 season 1-0.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without Nick Collison for the first three weeks of the year

Backup power forward Nick Collison will miss the first three weeks of the season due to a stress reaction in his left leg. This will cause a domino effect as far as P.T. on the Thunder’s bench. 2nd year PF/C Serge Ibaka is going to see a huge boost in P.T. because of Collison’s injury as he will be Jeff Green’s backup at power forward. Rookie Cole Aldrich will also see a bump in P.T. at center behind Nenad Krstic. At least the Thunder have decent youngsters ready for action but this injury could hurt them a little bit.

The over/under for Oklahoma City Thunder wins in 2010-11 is 50.5

The over/under for Thunder wins in 2010-11 is 50.5.  The Thunder were 50-32 last season but they should improve this year despite not making any big name additions to the roster.  I would take the over for Thunder wins because Kevin Durant is the best player in the NBA right now and it’s scary to think that he could even be better this year.  The Thunder are also getting respect in the betting for the NBA Championship as they are currently 15-1.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are banking on Scott Brooks leading them back to the playoffs

45-year old head coach Scott Brooks got the Thunder to the playoffs way ahead of schedule last season and it will be up to the coach to keep them there.  Brooks led the Thunder to a 50-32 record (61%) during the regular season and then they took the Lakers to six games before falling just a tad short.  Brooks now has a 72-79 (47.7%) record in his two years in charge for the Thunder.  The Thunder didn’t make many improvements in the roster over the summer so it will be up to the younger players to rise up and I think Brooks is the right guy for the job.
