The Oklahoma City Thunder need to play Nick Collison more

Blogged under General, Steppin Up, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 29 December 2009 at 2:32 pm

The Thunder are a pretty soft basketball team and they could use a thumper like Collison on the court more. He has played in 26 games (1 start) this season for the Thunder and he is averaging 19.5 minutes, 5.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. I’m sure a lot of basketball teams would be very interested in Collison if the Thunder put him on the trade block but my advice to them would be to keep him and get him at least 10 more minutes per game.

Oklahoma City Thunder 117, Phoenix Suns 113

The Thunder outrebounded the Suns 48-38 last night and it was a big reason for the win. Kevin Durant led the way for the Thunder last night with 38 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Russell Westbrook led the way for the offense last night with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Jeff Green also had a solid game with 17 points and 9 rebounds. The Thunder are now 14-14 on the year.

The Oklahoma City Thunder acquire Eric Maynor from the Jazz

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 December 2009 at 6:31 pm

The Oklahoma City Thunder have acquired 22-year old point guard Eric Maynor and 33-year old SG/SF Matt Harpring from the Jazz for 2002 2nd round pick Peter Fehse. Maynor was a first round pick last June by the Utah Jazz. He played in 26 games (2 starts) for the Jazz this season and he averaged 14.0 minutes, 5.2 points, 1.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists. Maynor will need to improve his shooting (39.1% from the floor) and he will get that chance playing behind Russell Westbrook. Matt Harpring has not played at all this season due to injury. He played in 63 games (2 starts) last season for the Jazz and he averaged 11.0 minutes, 4.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Harpring has now played in 665 games (349 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 26.4 minutes, 11.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Harpring might never suit up in a game for the Thunder but I still like this trade as Maynor has a nice upside.

UPDATE: The Thunder have released Matt Harpring and they have signed D-League forward Antonio Anderson to a 10-day contract to replace him on the roster.

The Oklahoma City Thunder gave it everything they had last night against the Lakers just falling a little bit short. Kevin Durant led the way for the Thunder last night with 30 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Russell Westbrook was also outstanding last night with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists. Thabo Sefolosha had his best game of the year for the Thunder with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots in 33 minutes on the floor. The Thunder are now 13-14 on the year.

The Rockets were just the better team last night in Houston. Jeff Green led the way for the Thunder last night with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
