The Supersonics have the best set of rookies in the NBA

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2007 at 1:55 am

Rookies Kevin Durant and Jeff Green are off to good starts to their NBA careers. Durant has played in 28 games this season for the Sonics and he is averaging 33.5 minutes, 20.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.2 blocks per game. His shooting will need to improve a bit as he’s only hitting 40.5% from the floor, 31.9% from three point range and 85.7% from the free throw line. Green has played in 28 games this season and he is averaging 22.7 minutes, 8.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He is shooting 44% from the floor and 69.9% from the free throw line. Durant & Green form a nice foundation for the Supersonics to build on.

A couple Seattle Supersonics have been awful in December

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 1:05 am

Kevin Durant and Damien Wilkins have been bending the rim in December so far. Kevin Durant has been a gun this season and that’s a problem with all of the bricks he has been shooting. In 4 games this month, Durant is averaging 33.8 minutes, 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 2.5 blocks per game. He also is only shooting 33.3% from the floor last night and that is terrible. Damien Wilkins also is having issues this month. In 4 games in December Wilkins is averaging 27.8 minutes, 7.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. The Sonics need to get both of these guys on track or they will have problems scoring points.

Nick Collison has been outstanding in December for the Seattle Supersonics

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Out, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 1:00 am

Nick Collison has played in 3 games off of the bench for the Sonics this month and he’s playing great. Collison is averaging 28.3 minutes, 11.0 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He will likely earn a lot of more playing time in the near future as long as he keeps playing like he is right now.

The Seattle Supersonics have been awful this season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Game Recaps, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 12:58 am

The Seattle Supersonics are in 4th place in the Northwest Division with a 5-16 record which has them 8 games behind the Nuggets and Jazz. The Sonics have been awful on defense as they are allowing 105.5 points per game this season. That happens a lot to young teams like the Sonics. It’s going to be a long season in Seattle.

Johan Petro is losing playing time for the Seattle Supersonics

Blogged under Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 6 December 2007 at 2:53 pm

Reserve center Johan Petro played well last season but he has been awful so far this season. He’s starting to lose playing time to other young players and that says a lot about Petro’s future, so he must pick his play back up. In Petro’s first 13 games of this season he has averaged 12.2 minutes, 3.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He’s also only shooting 36.6% from the floor and that’s downright pathetic for a player his size.
