The Seattle Supersonics have a very talented bench
The Sonics have a nice blend of youth and experience on there bench for this season. 1st round pick Jeff Green will start the season coming off of the bench but he will likely be starting by mid-season at small forward. Combo guard Delonte West will likely be the #3 guard for the Sonics this season. He played in 69 games (47 starts) last season for the Celtics and he averaged 32.1 minutes, 12.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Wally Szczerbiak will also be an important part of the bench as he’s a lethal long range shooter. He played in 32 games (19 starts) for he Celtics last season and he averaged 28.1 minutes, 15.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. The Sonics will likely keep trying to trade point guard Luke Ridnour but as long as he’s a Sonic they will use him. He played in 71 games (58 starts) last season for the Sonics and he averaged 29.5 minutes, 11.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. Power forward Kurt Thomas was brought in by the Sonics in a trade with the Suns and he will back up Chris Wilcox this season. Thomas played in 67 games (13 starts) for the Suns last season and he averaged 18.1 minutes, 4.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. 2nd year forward Mickael Gelebale was a surprise for the Sonics last season as he played in 70 games (14 starts) and he averaged 17.7 minutes, 4.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. Johan Petro will back up at power forward and center this season for the Sonics and he’s a rapidly improving player. He played in 68 games (41 starts) last season for the Sonics and he averaged 18.9 minutes, 5.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Robert Swift missed all of last season but the Sonics hope that he will contribute this season as he has recovered from a severed injury. Swift has played in 63 games (20 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 16.8 minutes, 5.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 0.2 assists and 1.0 block per game.
