Earl Watson needs to shoot better for the Sonics

Blogged under Need to step up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 24 January 2007 at 2:04 am

The Sonics elevated Earl Watson to the starting lineup, but he needs to shoot better to keep that job.  In his last 5 games, Watson has only hit 27.5% from the floor and has averaged 8.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 10.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game.  If he can shoot better, the Sonics will really start to score alot of points because he’s a good passer.

Nick Collison steppin’ up big time for the Sonics

Blogged under Steppin Out, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 24 January 2007 at 2:00 am

Nick Collison has been flat out awesome lately.  In his last 5 games, Collison has averaged 39.0 minutes, 20.4 points, 14.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.  He also has hit an amazing 63.5% from the floor in those games.  If he keeps this up the Sonics will win alot of basketball games.

The Sonics raced out to a 51-29 lead at the half and then coasted to victory last night.  The Sonics played great on defense as they held the Bucks to 33% shooting from the floor and they also pounded the boards outrebounding the Bucks 53-40.  Ray Allen led the way on offense with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.  Damien Wilkins had a good game off the bench with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.  Nick Collison had another good game inside with 13 points and 16 rebounds.

The Sonics improved to 16-25 on the season with this win.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270119025

Damien Wilkins needs to step up

Blogged under Need to step up, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 16 January 2007 at 11:40 pm

Damien Wilkins has not seized his big opportunity for playing time due to the injuries to Rashard Lewis and earlier to Ray Allen.  In fact, Coach Hill is playing him less now because of his poor effort.  He has played in 39 games and is averaging 25.0 minutes, 8.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals.  Maybe the cut in minutes will light a fire under Wilkins and get him to start playing hard again.
