Sonics outlast Hawks 113-112 in OT

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Sunday 12 November 2006 at 8:56 am

This was an exciting basketball game and in the end the Sonics were just a tad better than the Hawks.  Ray Allen led the way with 33 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  Rashard Lewis had a good game with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.  Luke Ridnour directed the attack with precision scoring 19 points and dishing out 5 assists.  Chris Wilcox was a monster in the paint with 12 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists.  Nick Collison really helped off of the bench with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.

Nice win by the Sonics who improve to 3-4 on the season.

Huge third quarter paves way to victory for Sonics

The Sonics won the game with the Bobcats last night 99-85, but the key was the third quarter.  In the third quarter, the Sonics out-scored the Bobcats 35-19!  Ray Allen led the Sonics in scoring as usual with 26 points.  Rashard Lewis had a good all-around game with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists.  Chris Wilcox was huge in the paint with 12 points & 13 rebounds.  Center Johan Petro added 12 points & 6 rebounds.  Nick Collison had a huge game off of the bench with 10 points & 15 rebounds!  Luke Ridnour scored 6 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 7 assists.

The Sonics played well on offense (47.4% FGs) and defense (39.7% FGs)!  The Sonics are turning things around as of late and improved their record to 2-4 on the season.

Sonics lose to Magic and fall to 1-4

The Sonics lost 88-87 at Orlando on a last-second shot by Hedo Turkoglu.  Ray Allen led the way like he does on most nights with 21 points.  Rashard Lewis pitched in with 16 points.  Luke Ridnour was busy all night, scoring 10 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, dishing out 6 assists and stealing the ball 3 times.  Nick Collison had a solid game off of the bench with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

The Sonics need to start playing better defense or this will be a long season.  Sure, they only gave up 88 points tonight, but, the Magic shot 54% from the floor and that won’t get it done.

Sonics fall to Shaq-less Heat 90-87

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 8 November 2006 at 12:18 am

Ths Sonics played great defense holding the Heat to 39.7% FGs, but it wasn’t enought to win the game.  Rashard Lewis led the way for the Sonics with 23 points.  Ray Allen had a horrible shooting game, hitting only 5 of 17 shots from the floor for 18 points.  Danny Forston scored 10 points.  Nick Collison had a decent game with 8 points & 10 rebounds.

Power Forwards

Chris Wilcox has been an outstanding addition to the Sonics.  The Sonics acquired him last season in a trade with the Clippers for Vladimir Radmanovic.  It looks as if all Wilcox needed was playing time, and he wasn’t going to get that in LA.  Wilcox is a tough guy that likes to play in the paint and is a good rebounder.  For his career, Wilcox has averaged 7.4 points & 4.3 rebounds in only 18 minutes per game.  Wilcox should have a breakout season with the added playing time he will get in Seattle.

Nick Collison is the # power forward on the Sonics.  The Sonics have been a little disappointed in Collison because they thought they were going to get alot more out of him after picking him in the first round three seasons ago.  Collison has averaged 6.5 points & 5.0 rebounds per game over his career.

Danny Fortson is a great rebounder who’s a little thug-like on the court, but that’s a good thing that adds to his game on the court.  Fortson has averaged 8.4 points & 7.4 rebounds per game despite only averaging 20.4 minutes per game.
