Point Guards

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 31 October 2006 at 1:59 pm

The Sonics are in good shape at point guard with two good veterans.  Luke Ridnour will start and he’s the classic pass-first point guard.  Ridnour is in his 4th season in the NBA and he’s a good leader for the Sonics.  Ridnour always makes sure to get the ball to the playmakers (Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis) in good position to score.  Ridnour also can hit the open three if the defense leaves him and tries to double one of the main men on the Sonics.  For his career, Ridnour has averaged 9.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Earl Watson is the back-up, and he’s very similar to Ridnour in style of play.  Between Ridnour and Watson the Sonics get 48 minutes of good play at the position.  Watson only has averaged 19.7 minutes per game in his career, but he scores 6.3 points per game.  Watson also averages 2.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game over his career.

Center Robert Swift out for season

Blogged under Front Page, Injuries by Nothing but Net on Monday 30 October 2006 at 3:07 pm

Robert Swift had just started to turn the corner as an NBA player last season and was primed to play big minutes for the Sonics this season, but he blew out his right knee last week and will miss the whole season.

Bob Hill

Bob Hill is a good basketball coach.  He will have to keep his team focused as a lot of talk has been going around of a potential move to Oklahoma City.  Hill was 22-30 with the Sonics.  For his career, Hill is 279-242 in 8 seasons as a head coach.

Hill has made 4 playoff appearances and sports a 17-20 record.
