The Thunder have waived 24-year old shooting guard Kyle Weaver. Weaver played in 12 games (0 starts) for the Thunder last season and he averaged 12.0 minutes, 3.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He played in 68 games (19 starts) in his two years with the Thunder and he averaged 19.3 minutes, 4.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. The Thunder won’t miss Weaver too much as he was #3 on the depth chart at shooting guard for the Thunder.

The Oklahoma City Thunder sign Royal Ivey

Blogged under General, Big Thunder News, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 22 July 2010 at 8:20 am

The Thunder have signed 28-year old PG/SG Royal Ivey to an undisclosed contract. Ivey played in 44 games (0 starts) for the Sixers & Bucks last season and he averaged 7.4 minutes, 2.1 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. He has now played in 378 games (109 starts) in his six years in the NBA and he has averaged 13.1 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. I don’t see Ivey getting much P.T. for the Thunder as he will be likely on the third team.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will likely do some minor tinkering this summer

Blogged under General, Big Thunder News, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 30 June 2010 at 1:27 pm

Personally I think the Thunder should be calling the Timberwolves about the availability of Al Jefferson and Kevin Love. The one thing the Thunder lacked last season and it really showed in the playoff series against the Lakers was muscle under the basket. To make a trade like that the T-Wolves would likely want Jeff Green and quite a bit more. I still think it would be a deal worth making as Green is not the kind of rebounder the Thunder can afford to start at power forward. The Thunder hope that Daequan Cook and Morris Peterson will be able to give them solid outside shooting. That could be wishful thinking. In free agency I think the Thunder will be looking for cheap offense and rebounding. Guys like Flip Murray, Roger Mason, Eddie House, Luther Head, Anthony Tolliver, Matt Bonner, Craig Smith, Amir Johnson, Chris Singleton and Alex Barron would fit the bill.

The Oklahoma City Thunder acquire forward Latavious Williams from the Heat

Blogged under Big Thunder News, General, The Draft Report, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 26 June 2010 at 8:56 am

The Thunder have acquired rookie 21-year old forward Latavious Williams from the Heat for a second round pick in 2011. Williams was picked #48 overall by the Heat and he is the first player in NBA history drafted out of the NBDL. Williams played in 47 games (9 starts) with the Tulsa 66ers last season and he averaged 7.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. The Thunder will likely bring Williams along slowly.

The Oklahoma City Thunder acquire Ryan Reid from the Pacers

Blogged under General, Big Thunder News, The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 25 June 2010 at 2:40 pm

The Thunder selected center Magnum Rolle out of Louisiana Tech with the 51st overall pick of the NBA Draft. They then traded Rolle to the Pacers for the rights to 23-year old forward Ryan Reid. Reid was picked with the 56th overall pick of the NBA Draft. He played in 31 games at Florida State in which he averaged 6.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. He played in 126 games in his college career and he averaged 5.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. Reid will likely be nothing more than a backup in the NBA and I don’t like this trade at all for the Thunder.
